LCOR’s PTO Campus Earns ENERGY STAR Rating from U.S. EPA

BETHESDA, Md. (November 14, 2007) — The LCOR-developed and managed U.S. Patent and Trademark Office campus headquarters in Alexandria, Va. has earned an ENERGY STAR rating from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, reflecting the property’s "superior energy performance" and identifying it as “one of the most efficient buildings in the nation,” according to the EPA.

By designing an energy-efficient property, the EPA said in a letter to LCOR, "you are preventing the release of greenhouse gases and protecting the environment."

“The fact that we were able to earn this rating in our first attempt is a credit to how the campus was designed,” said LCOR’s Philip D. Weber, General Manager. "The LCOR Engineering team, led by Michael Mestre, has operated the campus with a focus on efficiency that has directly and financially benefited the federal government and American taxpayers."

LCOR completed the PTO campus in 2005. The 15-acre facility consolidates in five linked buildings more than 7,000 employees who had been working in 18 different buildings in another location. The 2.5-million square foot campus represents the largest lease ever signed by the U.S. General Services Administration for a federal government tenant.

Based in Berwyn, Pa., LCOR is a national real estate development and investment company. The firm’s portfolio includes more than $8 billion of properties completed, under construction or in pre-development.

LCOR has a 35-year presence in the Washington area. The company, which specializes in mixed-use, multifamily and office properties, is now constructing North Bethesda Center, an office, residential and retail development on a 32-acre site adjacent to the White Flint Metrorail station in North Bethesda.
