Completes Construction of New U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Headquarters
Campus in Northern Virginia
BETHESDA, Md. (March 4, 2005) — The Washington, D.C. regional office of LCOR Incorporated announced today that the company has completed construction of the new U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) headquarters campus in Alexandria, Va. Approximately 6,000 of PTO’s 7,100 local employees have relocated to the new offices; the other employees are expected to move in over the next few months. Construction was completed three months ahead of schedule. The new 15-acre facility consolidates in five linked buildings PTO employees who had been working in 18 different buildings in another location. The 2.5-million square foot campus represents the largest lease ever signed by the U.S. General Services Administration for a federal government tenant. The campus is accessible to the King Street and Eisenhower Avenue Metrorail stations; on-site parking is provided for more than 3,500 cars. Construction of the project began in December 2001. At the time the first building opened in 2003, then PTO Director and Under Secretary of Commerce Jim Rogan noted LCOR’s “unyielding commitment” to the PTO project, including the fact that LCOR delivered the first phase of the project “ahead of schedule.” LCOR’s PTO project team includes Turner Construction of Arlington, Va. as general contractor; Skidmore Owings and Merrill LLP of Washington as the building architect; and Gensler & Associates of Arlington as the interiors architect. LCOR owns and manages the property.
