Largest
Harris Teeter Food Market in Maryland Opens at North Bethesda Center
NORTH BETHESDA, Md. (September 24, 2008) — The largest Harris Teeter supermarket in Maryland opened its doors to 1,400 hungry shoppers last night, following a ribbon-cutting ceremony, for a special food-tasting event called “Taste of Teeter.” The new Harris Teeter store is two stories and occupies 63,000 square feet. It’s at the base of Wentworth House, the first apartment building at North Bethesda Center, which opened earlier this summer. The Harris Teeter store is open 24 hours and features a Starbucks Coffee. Notably, the store is capped by a 17,500 square foot environmentally friendly green roof, which with landscaping and gardens will reduce the building’s overall stormwater runoff. The green roof on the LCOR building is a first for a Harris Teeter store. LCOR is master developer of North Bethesda Center, which is rising on a 32-acre site approximately halfway between downtown Bethesda and downtown Rockville. The Main-Street style development that links all the new buildings to the Red Line Metro station will include 930,000 square feet of office space, 202,000 square feet of retail space, four apartment buildings and a hotel. Pedestrian-friendly, North Bethesda Center is expected to generate approximately 5,400 jobs and almost 6,500 additional daily trips at the Metro station when fully completed. For office and retail leasing information on the project, visit www.NorthBethesdaCenter.com. Leasing information on apartments available at Wentworth House is available at www.WentworthHouseApartments.com.
