| Long
before mixed-use development was popularized in America in the 1990s,
LCOR proved the efficacy of the concept — with successful planned developments
in urban and suburban locations.
In fact, LCOR has long held that “better places” are always well planned and often defined by their mixed uses... be they for living, learning, working, traveling or playing. Planned developments that integrate mixed uses are appealing for a number of reasons: They encourage long-term thinking about communities, including growth, traffic patterns, the environment, and the highest and best use of buildings and land... they are inherently convenient for the people who take advantage of their multiple uses... and there is a vibrancy to them generated by the comings, goings and doings of people engaging with a place in different ways. Thinking as a place-maker, LCOR in the late 1960s and early 1970s conceived two planned urban developments in suburban New Jersey: Princeton Meadows in Plainsboro and Greentree Village in Burlington County. Today, the company has three more planned developments at various stages:
