In 2011 LCOR closed on the redevelopment of Novo Nordisk's new North American headquarters, an adaptive reuse project of 770,000 square feet. LCOR will retain the majority of the complex's structural elements, significantly reducing the amount of demolition necessary, construction waste created on the site, and associated carbon emissions. Where new materials are required, recycled content, regional manufacturing and sustainably harvested wood will be specified. Roofs will be reinsulated, main mechanical systems modified, and HVAC systems enhanced all in an effort to reduce energy use and increase efficiency. Design of the project site is improved through the provision of a Train Link bus service for building occupants, preferred parking for low-emitting vehicles, and bicycle racks and changing rooms to support potential bicycled commuters. As part of LCOR's ongoing sustainability efforts, the project will be LEED certified by the U.S. Green Building Council.
